The “Breaking the Digital Ceiling” Report is Now Available!
The “Breaking the Digital Ceiling” report, based on the work carried out under the DOORS – Digital Incubator for Museums project, supported by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program, is now available!
This report aims to provide significant contributions to the digitalization processes of small and medium-sized museums. Here are some key points about the content of the report:
- Digital Transformation of Museums: The report explains why the digital transformation of small and medium-sized museums is important and how this transformation is a critical factor for their long-term success.
- Current State of Museums: Findings obtained through in-depth research conducted as part of the project are shared to better understand the current state of museums. These findings offer important insights into how the foundations of digital transformation can be laid.
- Incubation Program Design: The report thoroughly discusses the design of a two-stage incubation program at the core of the DOORS project, which aims to assist 20 museums in overcoming digital barriers.
- Knowledge Sharing and Future Speculations: Additionally, while explaining DOORS’ knowledge-sharing practices, frameworks, and incubation program design, the report also includes museum workers’ experiences and future speculations to serve as an inspiration for future programs.
- Contribution to the Sector: What’s important to us is that this report serves as a catalyst for transformation in the museum sector and contributes to the creation of funding programs that better align with supporting digitalization.

The Ringing Forest
Juan delGado /İstanbul, Ocak 2023
Place: İstanbul Diyalog Müzesi
Date: 1 Ocak 2023
The visit is free.
The exhibition “Ringing Forest”, by deaf artist Juan delGado who works in the UK and in collaboration with the consulting firm Mind the Life, can be visited for free at the Istanbul Dialogue Museum starting from January 21st. The exhibition focuses on individual experiences of hearing loss, and the artist’s intention is to “use the disruptive effect of artistic disruption to take people out of their comfort zones and allow them to experience, even temporarily, what it is like to be ‘disabled’.” This remarkable multi-sensory exhibition by internationally renowned artist Juan DelGado gives visitors the chance to experience firsthand the ringing in the ears that is a constant internal noise for some people, leading them to often ignore the outside world.
The exhibition is presented entirely in a dark space and becomes a tool for visitors to explore their own inner worlds. As we celebrate our 10th anniversary this year, this exhibition reinforces our museum’s founding purpose of experiencing the world of individuals who are considered “disabled” in society by temporarily disabling our senses. Our goal is to develop perceptions of “disability” by experiencing differences and bringing people together around culture and art, popularizing social behavior change and culture that embraces greater diversity, equality, and inclusiveness
*This exhibition is supported by the British Council’s Creative Collaborations Grant Program.
